A topic of social factuality that feels brute to me is the
topic of equality. People are treated differently every day because of the
privileges they do or do not have. Total and complete equality in our society
today is non-existent and feels like it never will be. There is always going to
be that one person or group of people who perceives something that one group
deems fair as unfair. There will always be that one person or group who is
extremely racist just because they can be. The fact of the matter is there is
no real cure for equality in today's society. There is not one solution myself
or anyone else for that matter can come up with to reach that solution. I mean
technically it's not impossible to change, but realistically it feels like it
is. Everyone views different things in different lights. No two people are
alike in this world, therefore leaving billions of viewpoints floating around
just waiting to somehow all sync up. It's our perceptions of the past, which I
believe, got us to the point we're at now. So many things that we weren't even
alive for are left for us to learn about and interpret our feelings on. But
even if it wasn't for the past there would still be people considered
"better" or "more desirable" for any number of reasons. I
may not be able to change the behaviors of society, but I believe that I
sincerely try my best to always treat others the way I would like to be
treated. Of course no one, including myself is perfect, and situations arise
where I'm obviously not going to be the nicest person in the world, but for the
most part I really do try. Who you are, and where you came from aren't really
things for me to judge.
I couldn't agree more, I know that it is impossible for everyone to be equal as much as we all want that but I wish people would at least be a little less judgemental of each other. It is in our basic human nature to judge everyone so I can't say that I don't judge, but I try not to over judge, I guess you could say, before I get to know someone. You never know what a person is going through or has gone through to make them the person that they are.
