Question

Is there any difference psychologically between anorexic and bulimic people?

I've always been sort of curious about what the huge difference between anorexic and bulimic people was. From what I understand, bulimic people throw up their food but aren't always necessarily deathly skinny like anorexic people. I'm just sort of confused on the major differences between the two because they seem to both be very similar disorders.

  1. I have been confused about these two disorders also! Mainly because the motive to me seems the same, to be skinny, yet the ways they do it is different. I would love to hear more about this and glad you asked it!

  2. Very interesting question! From what I have been told, people who are anorexic do not eat to become skinny, and people who are bulimic throw up their food to become skinny. After reading your post, I agree with you on the fact that I too, would like to more about these eating disorders. For example, I would like to know what makes someone decide to become anorexic or bulimic, and how they choose which one to do, if these disorders are something people can choose. Also, this made me think, will people ever be able to recover from these disorders, or is a good chance they will become anorexic or bulimic again.
